Privacy Policy
The short version
Sober Glass has no account, no sign‑up and no servers. Everything you log stays on your iPhone. We don't collect, see, transmit or sell any of your data, and the app works fully offline. The only data that can leave the app is what you choose to write to Apple Health, and that stays within Apple's Health on your device.
01 Who we are
Sober Glass (“the app”) is published by Inspicio Group Ltd (“Inspicio”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales under Companies House number 13312678 and based in London, United Kingdom. For the limited matters described in this policy, Inspicio is the data controller. You can reach us any time at hello@inspicio.tech.
02 Our approach to your privacy
Sober Glass is private by design. It has no user accounts, requires no sign‑up, and does not connect to any Inspicio server or backend. All information you enter is stored locally on your device. Because we operate no servers and the app transmits no personal data to us or to anyone else, we do not receive, store or have access to your information.
03 Information stored on your device
The following is created and stored only on your device as you use the app:
- The drinks you log: type, size, volume, quantity and price, plus the units, calories and cost calculated from them
- Days you mark as alcohol‑free, and your current and best streaks
- Your settings and goals, such as your weekly unit limit and chosen currency
This data lives in the app's local storage on your device. It is never uploaded to us, and we cannot see it.
04 Information we do not collect
To be completely clear, Sober Glass does not:
- Require an account, email address, name or any sign‑up
- Include any third‑party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs
- Collect device identifiers, your location, or usage analytics
- Send your drink history, or any other personal data, to us or anyone else
- Use cookies or similar tracking technologies
05 Apple Health (HealthKit)
Apple Health integration is entirely optional and stays off until you turn it on. If you choose to enable it:
- Sober Glass writes data to Apple Health only. Specifically, it can save the alcohol consumption you log (your number of standard drinks) to the Health app so it appears alongside your other health data.
- Sober Glass does not read any data from Apple Health.
- You can grant or revoke this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health, or in the Health app itself.
Any data written to Apple Health is stored by Apple on your device and managed under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. In line with Apple's requirements:
- We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing.
- We never sell Apple Health data, or share it with any third party.
- We only write the health data you generate by logging drinks, for the sole purpose of reflecting it in the Health app for you.
07 Data retention and deletion
Because your data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it:
- You can delete individual drink entries or days within the app.
- You can remove all app data by deleting Sober Glass from your device.
- If you have device backups enabled (for example iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup), a copy of the app's on‑device data may be included in those backups. Those backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple's terms, not by Inspicio.
- Any data you wrote to Apple Health stays in the Health app until you delete it there. Removing Sober Glass does not delete data already saved to Apple Health.
08 Exporting your data
Sober Glass lets you export your own history from within the app. Exported files are created on your device and shared only to the destinations you choose, such as saving a file or sending it through another app. We never receive a copy.
09 Children's privacy
Sober Glass concerns alcohol consumption and is intended for adults. It is rated 17+ and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. In fact, we do not collect personal information from any user.
10 Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, delete and port it, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because Sober Glass keeps your data only on your device and we hold no copy, you can exercise these rights directly and immediately. Your data is already in your sole possession and can be edited, exported or deleted by you at any time.
If you believe we have somehow processed your personal data and wish to make a request or raise a concern, contact us at hello@inspicio.tech. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
11 International users
Sober Glass stores data locally on your device wherever you are in the world. We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not collect or transmit it. If you use Apple Health, that data is handled by Apple under its own terms.
12 Security
Your information is protected by the security of your own device: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID and, where enabled, device encryption. Because nothing is transmitted to or stored on our servers, there is no central database for us to lose. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and protected with a passcode or biometric lock.
13 Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data (for example, if a future version adds a new feature), we will update this policy and revise the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before the relevant feature is released.
